Born in 1975, Rujiman obtained his degree in Arts from the School of Fine Arts in Yogyakarta. He is Indonesian and currently living in Jogjakarta.
His paintings stand out with Koi fish as his signature subject matters. Rujiman captures Koi fishes onto canvas as he perceives them. Their colorful beauty and graceful movements are drawn using a pallet knife, presented in an impressionist style. But what makes it more noticeable is the impasto technique he uses on his works which resonate the energy and emotion from his subject matters.
Although Koi culture originally came from Japan, Rujiman’s Asian roots has provided him a connection easily with other Asian culture and philosophy.
