Tarto is a passionate artist from Indonesia. He already has quite a long experience in painting.
Born in Central Java, September 20th, 1973. Tarto moved to Ubud, Bali when he was 27. His fondness of paddy fields always brings him close to his childhood playground and the surrounding of his current home. His unique and original techniques have captivated collector’s attention since 2012 through private sales, auctions as well as art fairs. Tarto’s works are rich in details featuring millions of paddy grains. Tens even hundreds of oil tubes are uniquely and meticulously squeezed and carved into his painting of paddy fields. Meanwhile, the working farmer composition is cleverly presented in numbers favored by Chinese market.
Painting in my vision is broad and infinitely free, unrestricted to a specific form, standard, or rule. That is why I admire Van Gogh and Basuki, whose work is limitless in its freedom. Painting also provides a special satisfaction for those who participate in the act of painting as well as those who enjoy and live a work of art. I've been interested in painting since I was in elementary school. Although I enjoy painting, I have never pursued a formal education in the field. I was surrounded by many artist friends, so I began seriously exploring the art of painting. The scenery and rice fields served as sources of my inspiration. This may illustrate the concept of limitless freedom.
