An artist from Bali who is diligent, patient, and enjoyable in his work. For him painting is about seeking validation and meditating.
Born in April 9th, 1988, Pande attained his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Indonesia's Institute of Fine Arts (Institut Seni Indonesia) Yogyakarta. His paintings highlight sculpting craftmanship themes in every piece. His prominent narrative in his paintings is the aspects corporeal and spiritual. Given time, the visual aspects of his paintings deformed, from beastly or grosteque figures to serene ones. This also represents Pande's journey from fiery individual into calm and wise one. His signature are the use of lines and gradation utilizing Plotot technique. Pande tries to share his views on the duality of life analogized with sea, calm yet ebbing, encompassing humanity within it. That also represents the harmony of the cosmos. His narratives not only contain meditative values but in their lengthy creation process, Pande also perceives working on paintings as a form of meditation.
I began painting with the intention of delving deeper into sculpture, but that desire changed when I was influenced by my friends and our shared interest in visiting painting galleries, exhibitions, and museums. It was then that my desire to delve deeper into the art of painting took root in my heart and I decided to continue my studies at Institute of Art to further explore the art of painting. To me, art is a creation and born from duality, whose presence needs to be understood in order for us to know our own existence. In short, art is like a father who sows the seed and a mother who gives birth.
