Nyoman Budiarta is a passionate and hardworking artist with singular mission: to make others happy through his artworks.
Born in June 29th, 1967. Nyoman Budiarta specialized in creating pieces inspired by Walter Spies, Arie Smit, and Paul Husner. The hallmark of his paintings is the slowly, time-eroded landscape of Bali in his attempt to quench his longing for his birthplace. His paintings are also his medium of the campaign to the Balinese people to stood up against the culture-grinding gears of modernization. His narratives and techniques contain the elements of Bali traditionalists, also his medium of choice which is small brush. Through pointillist techniques, Nyoman's immersive depiction of Balinese way of life shone through.
I was born and raised in Bali with art as it is already part of life, art related-activities have become a daily sight. I paint with a very simple technique, scratching brushes, shading with brushes. This technique is what I saw and examples from people around me. Being an artist for me is a profession that can produce to support my family, and share it for the surroundings. For me following people's tastes is mandatory, because the work is to make others happy. Perhaps this carried over from my educational foundation in architecture, it translated people's wants and needs in the form of design.
